Drawing on over 25 years experience in large purpose built industrial buildings, Techspan partnered with Formline Group and the project team through the design, engineering, approvals, manufacture and construction stages to ensure the efficient delivery of this quality facility.
At first glance, you notice just how enormous this building is, measuring; 75m wide x 127m long x 12m high, designed to suit the exact needs of Rapidplas.
Accessibility in and out of the facility was maximised through the use of numerous large roller doors, positioned to enable drive through bays. Each access bay doorway featured large cantilever awnings to allow for all-weather goods inward/outward. Adjoining at the rear left of the main building structure is a drive-through wash bay and service workshop.
Inside, a 75m clearspan with minimal internal columns meant that the available floor space was maximised for the manufacturing process, access to equipment and the safe and efficient movement of products and materials.
The provision for a 5 tonne gantry crane was included in the main structure as well as a custom mezzanine structural frame, handrails and stairs.
Adjoining the main warehouse structure to the front is the large office area – hidden within the modern style facade is a combination of main structural frame, second level floor framing and large pre-cast concrete panels which provided fire barrier wall between the main office and manufacturing/warehouse area.
Manufacture and delivery was co-ordinated with precision to ensure Formline Group adhered to their build schedule and delivered the project in a timely manner.
