Our history

1997

Our business begins as a small steel fabrication business, taking on local welding projects and learning firsthand the value of quality craftsmanship and personal service.

1999

The business expands into manufacturing rural sheds, industrial buildings, architectural steelwork, and stainless-steel balustrading — laying the foundations for the versatile capability we have today.

2003

Subsidiary business Rotech Rural is established, designing and manufacturing durable rural fence fittings and supporting regional infrastructure.

2007

A new, purpose-built facility is constructed — providing greater space, efficiency, and capability for structural steel manufacturing.

2014

The business is rebranded to TechSpan Building Systems, with a clear focus on large-scale, clear-span building projects and a commitment to smarter, more specialised steel solutions.

2016

The manufacturing facility is expanded, doubling production capacity and enabling greater control over timelines and quality.

2017

TechSpan transitions to CNC manufacturing, improving accuracy, repeatability, and production efficiency across all projects.

2019

Significant investment is made in drafting and process automation, introducing advanced software and systems to enhance precision and project coordination.

2022

Production facilities expand again with the installation of a new CNC beamline machine doubling throughput capacity and further strengthening quality control and lead time reliability.

2025

TechSpan’s team continues to grow, expanding our in-house engineering, drafting, and project management capability to support increased demand and ongoing innovation in smarter building solutions.

Australian owned and operated

TechSpan remains an Australian-owned, family business. Built on experience, integrity, and the belief that better results come from doing things the right way.

Operating from our Armidale headquarters, we manage every stage of design, engineering, and fabrication in-house, giving our clients confidence in quality, communication, and accountability. Over more than two decades, that hands-on approach has shaped how we work — practical, transparent, and committed to supporting Australian industries and regional communities through smarter building solutions.
